General Cancer Websites

Information in all formats is available in the Library.  If you need assistance searching, please do not hesitate to ask.  The websites listed in this guide are all reputable and reviewed.  The information can be trusted.  Many of the websites also contain lists of even more websites to view.  Personalized research and reference work can also be done, please feel free to ask the librarian for any further information you may need.

American Cancer Society   - A very complete and informative website with all cancers covered.  Printable fact sheets written in lay language, easy to understand and share with loved ones and caregivers.

American Society for Clinical Oncology  - Designed for both patients and practitioners, this site has good information about treatment guidelines, fact sheets and physician finders.  The pages have a linked glossary where you can find definitions for  medical terminology.

American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology - Very good general information on radiation therapy.  Very easy to read and understand, contains photos.

Cancer Bacup - The UKs cancer information service.  Contains very complete online booklets of information about all cancer topics.

Cancerfacts.com - Contains the cancer profiler, which, when given information on their secure server, may help you to make treatment decisions for your specific cancer. 

CancerLinks - A very complete website that is a collection of other websites on cancer.  Each cancer is broken down by location and all types of information is available from societies to governmental pages.  .

Clinical Trials.gov - The place to search for cancer related clinical trials.  You can search by disease, location and many other parameters.

Healthfinder - A government sponsored resource for all medical concern and conditions.  Contains information about specific cancers with more links, as well as general health and wellness information.

Lance Armstrong Foundation  - While Lance Armstrong is a testicular cancer survivor, his foundation is for all cancer survivors.  A very informative and inspiring website.

Medline Plus - Designed by the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, this website is a wealth of information on all health related topics including cancer.  You may choose a specific condition, search for drugs, look at a medical dictionary or search for a doctor.  The specific medical conditions sections have links to other helpful websites for information.

National Cancer Institute - The National Cancer Institute has a fabulous website that is a wealth of information for all cancer topics.  Including statistics, fact sheets and information on clinical trials.  A great starting point for research.

National Comprehensive Cancer Network    The network of providers that is designated comprehensive cancer center.  Find providers, treatment guidelines for both patients and practitioners and look at comprehensive cancer centers.

Oncolink - From the University of Pennsylvania, a great collection of information on cancer including book reviews and suggestions as well as general cancer information.

Oncology Channel  - A very complete website that covers most of the cancers.  Includes information about diagnosis, treatment, prevention and much more.
