SAFE DRUG DISPOSAL PROGRAM
The Eagle County Sheriff's Office, Vail Police Department, Eagle County Household Hazardous Waste Facility and Eagle River Water & Sanitation District partner with VVMC to ensure the safe disposal of prescription and non-prescription drugs. This helps keep people and pets safe from intentional misuse of medicines or accidental poisoning, reduces the amount of drugs in wastewater and also helps to protect our watershed.

Bring items to Eagle Valley Pharmacy in Vail Valley Medical Center or Edwards Pharmacy in Shaw Regional Cancer Center. Show the container to a staff member to make sure the item is acceptable for disposal, and deposit the container into the designated medication disposal unit. Pharmacy staff can determine if an item is "controlled," which means it cannot be collected without law enforcement.

For more information on safe drug disposal, view our Safe Drug Handout (pdf).
